The Day Before

WOW! As I signed off an email to Lucas and Kristina (from LA) this morning I wrote, "See ya tomorrow" and then it dawned on me -TOMORROW - WE LEAVE TOMORROW! Literally months of prayer and preparation have gone into this mission trip and it begins tomorrow.

I am continually amazed at how God works things out. I believe He has hand picked each person to be on this team. They all have a heart to worship and serve God. They love children. They have a desire to serve on the foreign mission field. Many have never been out of the US and some have never even flown before. Yet, each has answered the call God has placed on their hearts to serve Him.

As I told them in our meeting Sunday night, the mission opportunity doesn't start when they arrive in Malawi, it starts when they leave their driveway. All along the LONG trip to Malawi, we will have an opportunity to demonstrate and declare our relationship with a living God and Saviour. But as I have contemplated that, I realize that the mission opportunity doesn't begin when they leave their driveway - it has already begun. By simply being obedient to God's call on their life, they have already demonstrated and declared their servanthood to their Saviour. Each person going has a different sphere of influence. Within that sphere they have affected many people with their decision to go. It does not make them more spiritual than those staying behind. Some are called to go. Some are called to stay behind and to pray and to give.

We ask that you all pray as we go. If you do, you will have just as much a part of this mission opportunity as those of us who go. We will try to keep you abreast of the most recent, urgent or specific requests. Today pray as we continue to fill our suitcases with just the right things to help minister while in Malawi. Pray for a peace and an assurance, not only for those going, but for the families (and especially the moms) that are left behind. Pray for Lucas and Kristina's flights to Cincinnati and the entire teams' flight to DC. And pray for the hearts of the Malawi people to be prepared to receive God's Word.

We will try to keep you updated.

In His Care, (here, in Malawi and in between)

  2. I have already been praying for the team by name and will continue to do so. I am so excited to see what God is going to do in the lives of the people of Malawi. I know you will never be the same after this experience! God is SO good!!!

  3. As we add the last articles to our daughter's luggage in preparation to leave today, I sit here amazed at how God has orchestrated this entire trip. We are so excited to see how He is going to work in the lives of the people in Malawi, but know that our daughter and our lives will never be the same. As we kneel at His feet in amazement, a little fear and with great anticipation, we are watching His plan unfold before our eyes and know that He has great things for each one who serves, prays and is touched by this trip. Praise you Jesus for what YOU are going to do!!
